Quarrying & Aggregates Control Systems

Crushers, screens, conveyors and wash plants that have to make tonnage through the production window — the sector where Jonathan’s own experience runs deepest.

Aggregate plants are rugged, motor-heavy and unforgiving of downtime — every hour a crusher or screen sits idle is lost saleable tonnage, and this is the ground Jonathan cut his teeth on. Primary, secondary and tertiary crushing stages, vibrating screens, wash plants and the conveyor systems tying them together all run through dust, vibration and weather that a control panel wasn’t necessarily specified for, and the failures tend to cascade. A blocked chute upstream trips the whole train downstream of it.

VFDs and soft starts on crushers and conveyors take the brunt of the abuse: nuisance trips, drive faults and motor-control issues that cost tonnage before anyone’s sure whether it’s the drive, the motor or the load. Belt scales and blend control drift out of calibration gradually, so a plant can be shipping off-spec material for weeks before a customer complaint traces it back. We get the plant back to tonnage first, then tighten sequencing, scales and interlocks so the fix holds through the next shift, not just the one you called us out for.

Remote and rural sites add a further wrinkle: a control-room operator making a judgment call on a crusher or screen fault with limited visibility into what’s actually happening at the machine is a common, avoidable source of downtime. Getting genuine visibility — trends, alarms and fault history that are actually trustworthy — often closes more downtime than any single component fix.
