Packaging Control Systems

High-speed converting and packaging lines where downtime is scrap and a missed ship date.

An open control panel — the wiring behind a packaging line’s machine control.

Packaging and converting lines run fast and mix OEM machine controls from however many vendors supplied the line over the years. Being vendor-neutral and quick to diagnose across all of it is exactly what these plants need, because the maintenance window you’re given is usually short and non-negotiable. A registration fault on a converting line, or a jam on a high-speed wrapper, doesn’t just cost the machine’s output; it costs whatever was queued behind it and the labor standing around it.

Drive and registration faults, OEM controller faults on machines nobody on site has the source code for, and accumulation-conveyor timing that’s drifted out of sync with the machine ahead of it are where most of the downtime lives. OEE data is usually already being collected and rarely trusted, because small timing losses get folded into generic downtime codes instead of the actual cause. We do fast diagnosis and clean cutovers in the window you’ve got, then build a support relationship for the faults that keep recurring.

Registration and web-handling faults on a converting line are a good example of a problem that looks electrical but is often mechanical. A drifting dancer arm or a worn nip roller will present exactly like a drive-tuning issue, and chasing the wrong one burns the maintenance window you were given. Confirming which one you’re actually looking at before changing a drive parameter is the difference between a clean fix and a longer outage than the fault itself would have caused.
