Mining and mineral-processing sites run continuous, hard-working control systems in places that are often remote and always safety-critical. A stoppage on a crushing or milling circuit costs tonnage, and on a remote site it can mean waiting hours for a technician to reach site. That changes how you approach the work: reliability and a fix that survives the environment matter more than a clever one, and remote diagnosis and support matter as much as the site visit itself.
Crushing and milling control, conveyors and stackers, and the pumps and thickeners running the process loops behind them take the bulk of the faults — VFD trips, sequence faults on material-handling chains, and process loops that won’t hold a set point once dust and vibration have worked their way into the wiring. Weighing and material-tracking systems drift quietly out of calibration in the background. On a site where a technician might be hours away, getting the plant’s controls genuinely visible and remotely supportable is often worth more than any single fix, so an isolated site isn’t waiting on windshield time for every issue.
Mobile plant and haul-truck telematics add another layer. CAN bus data (J1939) from loaders, haul trucks and mobile crushers is often already being logged but rarely used well, and tying it into the same visibility picture as the fixed plant is usually a bigger win than it looks on paper, because it’s the one data source that’s already there and already paid for.
